Our Story.

Since 2016, NTES has been transforming nightlife with one clear mission: safer more vibrant nights, stronger communities. From pioneering Safe Buses to shaping international policy, every step has built momentum towards a stronger, digital-first future.
2016

Setting the Standard
for Safer Nights

NTES was founded with a clear mission: to make nightlife safer, more inclusive, and economically sustainable. From day one, we partnered with councils, police forces, BIDs, venues, and communities to deliver practical, people-led solutions.

2016 - 2020

Strategy Takes
Centre Stage

We led the way in shaping the UK’s first night time strategies, writing for Brixton and Manchester, updating Nottingham’s, and securing Purple Flag accreditation for Leicester. We also worked with McDonald’s UK & Ireland on a landmark case for 24/7 opening. We launched Chester and Manchester’s Safe Bus Projects. This period also marked a milestone for our Founder, Jo Cox-Brown, recognised nationally as a UK High Streets Task Force Expert.
2020

Keeping Culture
Alive in Covid

When the pandemic hit, nightlife was on its knees. We mobilised fast, helping clients raise over £40m to keep culture alive. Our Covid Aware training and certification supported safe reopening, while training across 40 towns and cities guided venues through shifting legislation.

2021

National Policy
and Local Impact

The Government of Ireland asked us to help shape their national night time strategy, train nine new advisors, and design template safeguarding policies for every venue in the country. Back in the UK, we reviewed the Late Night Levy with the GLA, Nottingham and Liverpool, supported Bradford BID to achieve Purple Flag, and wrote new strategies for Newark & Sherwood and Southampton.
2022

Award-Winning
Community Change

We won the Music Cities Award for Best Night Time Economy Initiative, for our innovative Violence Against Women and Girls training and Policing the Night Time Economy Training. We launched Onwards Norfolk (training 600+ people), delivered Bath’s Safe Bus, and wrote Exeter’s Night Time Economy Strategy. We also crafted the business plan for Bristol’s now world-famous Wake the Tiger.

2023

On the Global Stage

Our first international Night Time Economy Strategy launched in Edmonton, Canada. We co-hosted the Club Health International Conference in Liverpool, partnered with Westminster on women’s night safety, and delivered safeguarding in music studios training with Sony Music. In Northamptonshire, our pioneering work on women’s safety grew from the strategy we’d written in 2022 into a multi-year partnership.
2024

Firsts in Safety
and Strategy

We wrote the UK’s first LGBTQIA Night Time Economy Strategy for Cardiff, and the first male behaviour change strategy in Kingston upon Thames. Through the Safer Streets Fund, we piloted a Business Crime Reduction Partnership in Haringey and rolled out bystander training in Avon & Somerset to over 600 businesses. We also delivered Kensington & Chelsea’s first Night Time Strategy. By now, NTES had supported over 30 towns and cities and more than 6,000 businesses.

A Digital Future

We launched the NTES Digital Academy, putting toolkits, e-learning, and guided projects directly into the hands of those who need them most. Ireland became the first country to roll out 5 training programmes and 17 nationally adopted policies via our platform for their Safe & Sound training initiative.

Northampton and Kent extended digital training from compulsory training for taxi drivers to railway staff. We also delivered Sunderland’s Alcohol Strategy and launched London’s first Safe Bus in partnership with Eastern City BID, Aldgate Connect BID, and City of London Police providing care and reassurance to thousands in one of the UK’s busiest nightlife districts.

The Next Chapter

From our beginnings in 2016 to today’s digital-first approach, one thing hasn’t changed: our belief that safer nights mean stronger communities. Along the way, we’ve supported over 6,000 businesses, raised more than £60m for clients, and worked with partners from local councils to global organisations.

And we’re only getting started.
