Haringey BCRP Review and Pilot – Haringey, Greater London

We collaborated with Haringey Council to conduct a thorough review of the borough’s existing Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) and pilot a refreshed approach in Bruce Grove. The project aimed to enhance safety, reduce crime, and strengthen community confidence in Haringey’s night-time and business environments.

What it focussed on:

Our work involved a multi-stage approach:

  • Audit of existing processes: We conducted a comprehensive review of the BCRP’s current policies, procedures, and operational practices. This helped identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement, ensuring the refreshed model would be both effective and sustainable.
  • Stakeholder engagement: We worked closely with local businesses, residents, police, and other community partners through interviews, workshops, and surveys. This engagement provided insights into perceived challenges, practical barriers, and local priorities, enabling the pilot to be tailored to the community’s needs.
  • Designing interventions: Based on our findings, we developed and tested new operational practices and initiatives aimed at reducing crime, improving communication between stakeholders, and enhancing safety in both day- and night-time environments.
  • Pilot implementation: In Bruce Grove, we trialled the refreshed BCRP model, supporting businesses in adopting new practices, coordinating with law enforcement, and embedding a collaborative approach to safety and crime reduction.
  • Evaluation and recommendations: We assessed the pilot’s impact, measuring changes in community confidence, crime rates, and business engagement, and produced a set of actionable recommendations for wider borough rollout.

The project strengthened partnership working, evidence-based decision-making, and community confidence in Haringey’s business and night-time environments. It also provided a scalable model for other areas seeking to improve safety and operational standards within their local BCRPs.
