Anti-Sexual Harassment Training – Bristol Nights, Bristol

Bristol City Council successfully secured funding from the Safety of Women at Night (SWAN) initiative, and we were brought in to design and deliver bespoke Anti-Sexual Harassment Training for 1,000 venues and night-time economy workers across the city.

To ensure the training was relevant and practical, we consulted widely with key stakeholders, specialists, local police, venues, and women working and socialising in Bristol. This collaborative approach helped us understand the specific challenges faced in the city and develop solutions tailored to the local context.

What we focussed on:

We then created a comprehensive training package, including:

  • A bespoke Anti-Sexual Harassment Training Policy
  • An Anti-Sexual Harassment Matrix
  • Case studies, Q&A guidance, and best-practice examples

This programme was rolled out as a train-the-trainer model, ensuring the knowledge and resources stayed in Bristol, and ultimately reached 1,000 people working in the city’s night-time economy.

The result was a practical, scalable approach that equips venues and staff with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to prevent and respond to sexual harassment, making Bristol’s nightlife safer and more inclusive for everyone.
