Nighttime Economy Strategy – Kingston Upon Thames, Greater London

We worked with Kingston Upon Thames Council to design a comprehensive Nighttime Economy Strategy, aimed at creating a safer, more inclusive, and economically vibrant evening and night-time economy. The strategy was informed by detailed research, stakeholder consultation, and practical recommendations for sustainable growth.

What it focussed on:

Our approach included:

  • Research and data collection: Conducted consumer surveys, employee focus groups, and stakeholder interviews to understand current activity, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Overnight audits: Observed streets, venues, and public spaces at night to assess safety, accessibility, lighting, and user experience.
  • Collaborative strategy development: Worked with the Council, businesses, and community groups to create evidence-based recommendations covering policy, operational improvements, and cultural programming.
  • Actionable outcomes: Produced short-, medium-, and long-term initiatives to enhance visitor experience, increase footfall, and support sustainable economic growth.

Impact:

  • Enabled Kingston to prioritise investment, strengthen partnerships, and foster a dynamic, inclusive night-time economy.
  • Provided a framework for monitoring, evaluation, and ongoing strategy refinement.
